Marvel upcoming movies list with release date
Ant-Man And The Wasp – July 6, 2018
For a long time, it looked like Marvel Studios didn’t have a ton of confidence in a sequel to Ant-Man, but things have changed in a significant way. The company once again altered their lineup of films in Phase 3 in order to fit Ant-Man And The Wasp – a direct sequel to Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man that will retain its director.
Ant-Man And The Wasp will not only feature the return of Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael Pena (Luis), and Judy Greer (Maggie), but it’s also been revealed that new additions include Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost. It’s been rumored that the film will not only see the adventures of the modern versions of the titular heroes, but also feature plenty of flashbacks with young Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. Captain Marvel – March 8, 2019
Though originally meant to drop in late 2018, the anticipated Captain Marvel film is now scheduled to be released as the first Marvel Studios film of 2019. The blockbuster will center on Marvel character Carol Danvers in what’s said to be a very earthbound adventure (though her powers are “in the cosmic realm,” having come from the alien race known as the Kree). It’s also been confirmed that the movie will be an origin story for the titular character, will co-star Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, will be set in the 1990s, and will be the first in the franchise to specifically feature the aliens known as the Skrulls.
Fans got their first tease for Captain Marvel’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Infinity War, but it won’t be until her solo film that she actually appears in person. Let’s hope that it also finds a way to answer where she’s been all this time, and why she hasn’t been on Earth for all of the chaos that’s been going down. Untitled Avengers: Infinity War Sequel – May 3, 2019
By May 3, 2019, Marvel fans around the world will be foaming at the mouth. A big part of what made Avengers: Infinity War so breathtaking was its incredible ending, which saw fans witnessing the deaths of many of their favorite heroes. It was a hard thing to watch, but in 2019 we’ll get to see if Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy can get their revenge.
How will the two teams manage to fight a genius alien who has earned the powers of a god? It certainly seems like an impossible task, but stopping the Chitauri Invasion and the rise of Ultron could have been described the same way. We can’t wait to see what directors Joe and Anthony Russo and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely do with this one. Spider-Man 2 – July 5, 2019
It won’t be called Spider-Man 2. Nor will it still use Homecoming in its title, though it likely instead will reflect something that has to do with Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) Junior year of high school. But Marvel Studios has dated the second Sony/Marvel team up movie in Spidey’s corner of the MCU, and Marvel President Kevin Feige has confirmed that we will see the ramifications of Avengers 4 through Peter’s eyes. Which, alone, sounds fascinating.
On top of that, there are a number of threads that can be picked up by this Spider-Man sequel. Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) knows her nephew’s secret identity. Peter likely had a turn at being an Avenger… heck, he might be a full-fledged team member by the time we reach Spider-Man 2. And there was the tease of a villain in The Scorpion (Michael Mando) which might pay off in this installment. We have a release date, and the possible start of Marvel’s Phase 4 (if they call it that). Find the most recent updates on the Untitled Spider-Man Homecoming Sequel HERE.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – 2020
The second feature in the proposed Marvel Phase 4 is likely going to be the only other title that has been announced at this point: James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. We don’t have an exact release date on it yet, but we know is that Gunn is working on the screenplay and the director recently revealed the movie will be out in 2020. Because the film is in some state of development, we’re penciling it into the “next” slot after Spider-Man in 2019, but until we get an exact date another movie may come up in between.
James Gunn has also said that his next sequel in the Guardians franchise will bring an end to the story of THIS version of the Guardians team. That includes Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel). But it does not mean it’s the last Guardians film… or even Gunn’s last Marvel film — he seems to have a lot of ideas that could be explored. If I had to guess, I’d put Guardians 3down for May 1, 2020, but that’s pure speculation, so we’ll see how this plays out.
